I think this is my Charles. As soon as I saw the name Bacon it rang a bell. It is a name I remember my relative saying when she was teling me about Charles so thank you both very much.

If the Edward Charles who married Jessie has the same father's name and occupation as the Charles E who married Mary, then you'll know he's your man,

I have seen that one on FreeBmd but as I said before I was told that he was born in Mitcham, Surrey which is near Wandsworth, where Mary Ray who he married in 1917 lived and worked, so i have discounted that one (albeit perhaps quite wrongly). Back to the drawing board - but thank you so much for your help.

On the 1911 census Charles' place of birth is London Charing Cross on the image.

Jessie and Dorothy were both born at Thornton Heath, Surrey.

They had been married for one year and had one child.

Thanks for the information. The date of birth doesn't fit in with the 2 on Freebmd. Not sure about wrong middle name though - his daughter who was born in 1917 after Charles had died was quite sure on Mitcham and his name.

Yes I have seen these two but I had Mitcham in my head so if he wasn't born in Mitcham it could be either one since I don't know his year of birth.
