Find Ancestors

Hi I am looking for a marriage between Charles Arnold and Ellen Mcguirk I have searched every site I can think off and I cannot find anything
On the1911 census she is living in Leta Street Liverpool and it states she has been married for 19 years so that is 1892 Have searched Lancashire bmd Ancestry but I am not a paying member so cannot see the Irsh marraiges on Ancestry Before she married I also cannot find her on the 1881 census or the 1891 census She was born in County Down Ireland but have no idea when she came across from Ireland
We have one of their sons birth cert her name is right
Any help would be very much appreciated

Have you checked Armed forces marriages 1796-2005 or overseas marriages on findmypast

No I have not checked that but I do know that Charles is at home with his family in 1901 as he is down on the census so looking at those on findmypast could be a good idea

Sorry wrong census he is at home on the 1891 census

Ive checked the Irish marriages on Ancestry and rootsire and nothing is showing

They may never have married?

Im guessing you got her maiden from a childs birth certificate?

Visitor Philp was listed born 1878 liverpool and their is this birth

Yes it was on one of her sons birth certificates

Philip is her brother and he did not show up untill the 1901 census could not find his as well as Ellen in any other census
Sorry roy it is not Ellen from Prescot have checked that

I am wondering if they were not married and just lived together

Also Walton on the Hill where they were living in 1901 census is in the Registration District of West Derby

Checked the 1901 census and it looks like Ellen Ruth Shanks married Robert Haselden (Haseldon on 1901 census)

So it looks as if we are still missing a spouse for Charles Arnold!

So Ellen had a son with the same surname as hers?

I am getting confused! Did you say Philip was Ellens son or her brother? On this census, the age suggests its not her son

I think with the Irish accent, the surname has been misheard (I know, with my lot!)

Yes, Gins I've been looking at the surname McGuire too!

Just checked the image for 1901 census and it says that Ellen was born Ireland not Liverpool as transcribed on Vera's post

A lot of the Irish said they were born in England for fear of being sent back home....read that a few years ago in a family history book
