Dear Mike*,
Thank you for your reply about possibly the wrong Jane Denton. I am trying to find out how to remove the "Mark as answered" tick from your earlier reply, as it does not appear to be straightforward. I misunderstood the tick's function--still do.
"My" Jane Denton lived till 1925, and she married Henry Albert Lodge in 1865; the 10year-old "Alb" at Staincross is my grandfather. If I have been working from the wrong birth Certificate, I need to start again from the beginning.
Thank you for making me aware of this possibility.
Helix 14.

Dear Mike*,Sylvia,Astra, Reggie,
Thank you all for your replies.
I don't know how to remove that blessed tick from Mike*'s answer earlier, having misunderstood the purpose of the tick--still do.
I see that I may have been working from the Birth Certificate of a different Jane Denton, in which case I must start again from the beginning, with the Ecclesfield Jane.
"My" Jane Denton married Henry Albert lodge in 1865 and their son Albert, who is recorded on the reply from Mike* on the 1881 Census return, is my grandfather. Jane died in 1924.The family lived at Staincross, Barnsley.

Helix,

If you go to the top of your thread - the first message.

I believe it has a pinkish button which says mark as unanswered ? - Click on that and it should remove your tick.

DO NOT click on the delete button or the whole thread will be removed.

The tick is one of those widely misunderstood and totally useless tools which GR thinks is a good idea. It is means to be ticked only when the whole thread and all your questions on it have been answered.

Dea Xxx ;-) :-D

Helix

You must bear in mind that until 1875, there were no penalties for not registering births..........so your relation's birth may not have been registered, as I stated in the first post on this page

Please answer my earlier question about George's occupation.

1881
Lodge Jane -F- 34- Darton, Yorkshire,

Jane gives her birthplace as Darton, so you're looking for a birth cert ( if there is one) in that area... ...which is covered by Ecclesfield.

You are very welcome !

Glad to help !

Dea XXXXxxxxxxxxxxxxx

P.S.

I am glad that you have been 'put right' on your research - there is nothing worse than to find someone who you know is very eager but is following the wrong people - sometimes they will not listen and they just keep along the same wrong path which is very frustrating.!!

This time, I believe it has been proved to you and you have a whole lot of new 'reliable' info which you can start to follow.

Do come back and ask for help if you 'go astray' or get stuck anywhere !!

Best wishes,

Dea Xxx
