Can anybody help with a census query.? I have a joseph holden born approx 1870 who marries a martha ann bradley in 1889 in burnley. Not certain where joseph is born, but possibly burnley. They have a son thomas bradley holden in 1892 approx . I am not sure of any other siblings. Then joseph leaves and goes to live in oxford, in the st aldates area. While there he marries a local lady, although he is still married to martha ann who does not die until 1950 in burnley. He apparently appears on the 1901 census , possibly with a mis type of his son thomas holden appearing as 90 years old instead of nine. Please could someone check this for me as i have no access to the 1901 census for the oxford area at the minute.

If he left why would he have his son with him on the 1901?? just an observation !

thanks reggie. Thats them. Emily holden died aged 2 in 1891. Not sure when joseph did a runner but he was supposedly in oxford in 1901. Hope someone manages to find them. Its helpful to know he was born in yorkshire and approx what year, so thankyou very much for that.

I am not certain thomas holder/holden in 1901 is the son. does it say relationships or where born? Its just that in 1917 thomas bradley holden was named on the war memorial in oxford , and i think also in burnley he appears too. So maybe joseph took thomas for a while? Who knows? And i dont think there ia any sign of thomas bradley holden living with his mother martha ann holden nee bradley in burnley in 1901. She, martha, is apparently living with her brother arthur bradley and family in burnley on the 1901. Thomas would have been nine by then. So it has been assumed that the enumerator made a mistake by putting 90 and it should have been nine?? As i have not seen the film for myself yet, i am not sure this would be correct.
