Find Ancestors

Hi Folks!
I have a William Beddow b. c1849 Shropshire, who married an Emma Unknown b. c1850 Wolverhampton Staffordshire. Their children were Robert Beddow 1872 Wolverhampton Staffs, William Beddow 1873 Wolverhampton Staffs, John Edward Beddow1875 Wolverhampton Staffs, and others.
My problem is that in looking for ancestors, there are so many places that could hold the information, but need it to be the right one and not mess up my tree.
Any help you could offer would be really great.
