You can't mean Electoral Roll, surely......hardly anybody was entitled to vote

When did the child's parents marry?

Oops.....perhaps they didn't? No marriage For Reg* Edworthy before 1924

I think the 'father' was imaginary - explains why she had the child so far from home

Ian Report 19 Jul 2012 23:10

Hi Reggie yes that is the family I am looking at but there are lots of ? with this family I am trying to pin down a father to Reg

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 19 Jul 2012 23:15

Well, buy his birth cert................if, as I suspect, the father isn't named........you've 'had it'

Ian

Ian Report 19 Jul 2012 23:17

Reggie this Mary Jane Edworthy had another child in 1904 father given as Reg Edworthy. I agree I done think there was a Reginald Edworthy
That is why I was trying to find occupants of the address above
Mary was living at 35,Lancefield Street,London when Second child was baptized

Ian

Ian Report 19 Jul 2012 23:23

GlitterBaby

GlitterBaby Report 20 Jul 2012 00:09

The second child did not survive - Winifred May

On first baptism Reginald is a sailor and on second a traveller !!!!!

Do you still need to know this? Anyway - living at 36 Portnall Road on the 1901 census are:

Richard, Emma, Sarah and Rose Emberlain, Walter Florence and Amelia Millard, Edmund Field, Charles and Rhoda Crandon

No Reginald or King living at 35 Lancefield Street, in 1901, either.

So that's why the name seemed familiar!

Ian - you really should follow site guidelines and restrict your posts to ONE per topic

Mary obviously changed her address between March and December 1901 - she would have been pregnant when the census was taken - so finding the names of the occupants of the December address won't further your quest

If you doubt me...do the maths

Ian, Just looking through your past threads. Have I got this bit right:

On Reginald's baptism record it gives his father's name as Reginald, but on the actually birth certificate the father's name is James. And the same for Winifred?

Ian

Ian Report 20 Jul 2012 11:10

Hi Reggie

My reasoning was to see whom was living at the addresses given at the times of Reginald's and Winifred's Edworthy's Birth/ Baptism.
Was Mary Jane Edworthy living under an alias name possibly her lovers name?

Sept 1904 occupants of 35 Lancefield St, Queens Park, London
Dec 1901 occupants of 36 Portnall road, Paddington, London

In 1901 the electoral roll had Walter Milward, Richard Emberline and Charles Brandon at 36 Portnall Road.
In 1902 only Richard and Charles were on the roll.
