Find Ancestors

Hi, have reached a complete brick wall with my grandfathers half/step brothers. They were called Joseph and John Ryill and have found them on census' 1911, 1901 and 1891 when they were older but can find nothing from them as children with their family. I believe their mother was born Mary Nicholson and she later married my gt grandfather Joseph Benson though cannot find out who she married/had these two boys with in between. I mentioned my problem here before and it was very helpfully suggested that I get hold of John Ryills marriage cert to get the fathers name. This I did and he was also as John Ryill (deceased) so again I came to a dead end. I have tried ordering both John and Josephs birth cert but they came back with nothing for me on record. Has anyone got any idea at all where I can go from here? Many, many thanks :-)

When and where were Joseph and John born?

Hi sorry, John 1873 and Joseph 1880. John was born in Sunderland and not sure about Joseph though could have been Durham. They later lived in Hull with their mother and stepfather but that's about all I know.Thank you
