It looks as if Grandad Gordon did change his name, and laid a smoke screen to hide his past. Having his family die in the Blitz was a good way not to have anything to do with them.

Though I think he may have had them die away from Leeds because of that city's comparatively low casualty numbers. It depends which website you look at for the number of casualties in Leeds but it ranges from 70 - 94 people. I'm sure a whole family being lost would be remembered and people would have asked questions, wheras London had tens of thousands of casualties.

Yeah, I've been looking at those too, although date of birth seems to come from death info. And we know how that is as good as the knowledge of the informant.

Nothing is adding up at the moment.

Only the marriage and death in that name. Strange that he married at age 45 ish so might have been a previous marriage.

So back to square one as to where the information on father, brother and sister came from
