:-) Thanks every one for all that info, it's going to take time to digest it all. My
main aim is to see if i can see if there is a link to a John Hole born in Stogumber Somerset in the 1700's any info welcome. Thanks

Is the man you asked about actually in your tree?

The only way to prove/disprove potential links of any kind is to do the research.........one step at a time

Glynne, I spent a lot of time researching and transcribing those newspaper articles.

Are you saying that Richard Brassey Hole may not be related at all?

What else do you know about "your" John Hole? "Sometime in the 1700's" covers a hundred years so can you be more precise?

:-) Thanks i'd better make myself more clear. Richard Brassey Hole is not a direct relative,John Hole is my Gr gr gr gr grandfather brn c1779 his wife Susanna Brass brn 1775, they married 1795 in Stogumber. The Hole surname is not uncommon in Somerset & Devon it seemed to originated from there. They all seemed to live in a 50 ml radius so it's a stab in the dark and any help would be welcome, thanks for all your help

Glynne - what was your John Hole's occupation?

It might have been an idea from the outset to say what the connection was that you were trying to make. That way time could have been spent looking for that connection instead of on records that may be of no relevance.

Have you been able to get further back than John Hole b1779? know if he had any brothers and sisters? Where was he born?

Glynne...........

Why did you latch on to RBH?

You stated that he was born in Wiltshire.....but haven't provided any proof.......so why do you think he could be connected to the South West? Especially as you say that your relatives stayed within a 50-mile radius of (presumably) Stogumber

Sarah

What point are you making?
