That's great. It eliminates the death anyway. |

And Rose sadly died from her clothes catching fire. Her mother, Hannah, was out hawking pots, and her sister Mrs Wincup was with her. What sad lives. (The North-Eastern Daily Gazette (Middlesbrough, England), Saturday, November 30, 1896.) |

You posted Mary Jane as born 1889, which is a little late for a father who died last qtr 1887. |

Thank you for the death - I should probably call it a night. I missed that one but was looking in Stockton district (as the registers are with them currently). |

I guess it depends on how accurate Mary Jane's age is? |

Her poor daughter Maria Edwards had 3 children from her 7 year marriage, and had lost two by 1911. |

And yes, your assumption is correct - Hannah was married in 1868. |

Oh wow - that is very helpful to know about Hannah's marriage and children! But how awful for the poor woman. She also had a brother and sister-in-law committed to asylums and their medical reports are not easy reading. |

Just to add, Hannah's marriage details were crossed out in census 1911, as she was a widow, but they stated she was married 42 years (presumably 42 yrs ago from 1911), had 11 children of the marriage, of whom only 5 were still living. |
