[My guess is DNRLAN45 refers to book 45 of the Lanchester registrar's own register, so this is most likely a rego office marr. Non-conformists (except RCs) had been authorizeed to keep official registers in 1898, so the registrar no longer needed to attend their marrs. However, not all got authorized immediately - my wife's grandparents were wed at a Wesleyan Methodist Church in 1901 and the registrar had to attend for them - although it was a building registered for marrs, the church didn't get authorized to keep rego's until 1902]

Unless Janet Young had been married before I can't see how she was the mother of Elizabeth as there doesn't appear to be a birth for Elizabeth Smith with mmn Young

So if Richard Henry Smith is your friend's grandfather, can you please tell us the name of your friend's father.

I get the impression that Elizabeth's husband (John Thomas Wilson) is the friend's father.
and Robert Henry is Elizabeth's father

Or am I seeing it wrong ?

Richard Henry Smith is the father to Hilda Maud smith, 1916 Durham, Everlyn Smith 1917 ,
and Elizabeth J smith1918.

Elizabeth J Smith b 1918 is the one married to JohnThomas Wilson in 1938.
(as you all have already pointed out)

I think Eddie is looking for the mother of Elizabeth and siblings.

he probably got the father from her marriage cert, who we know as Richard ( Robert) Henry Smith.

I think it would be best if he sent for her birth cert ( meaning Elizabeth b 1918 )first that will give him the mother ,s name , make it easier for the marriage.
