This is getting very interesting
Have just discovered that in 1931 he was a witness on his fathers death certificate .

Where did that snippet of info come from?? No probate record though for any more details.

If John was a soilder in 1901 then he could have been anywhere in 1911, he could have married anywhere (if at all) so it may be worth getting the death certificate narrowed down on page 1 to check who registered the death.

Wonder who registered Jemima's death in 1931 Ipswich?

Deaths Jun 1931 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hawes Abraham J 81 Ipswich 4a 1013
Hawes Jemima 79 Ipswich 4a 1047

Hi Flip,
The info had just come from an elderly relative, will get back to them and ask if they know who the other witness's were,
Many Thanks.

I think there is some confusion here, there is normally only one person named on a death certificate as the informant - ie the person registering the death.

Sorry Flip,
I meant the witness on his wife's, Jemima.
