they are all described as boarders with Grace but as Robert, Elizabeth & Gertrude are Hampsons I would imagine Robert is her brother and Elizabeth is sister-in-law & gertrude niece

at age 45 & 48 they would be unlikely to be the child of William Wolstenholme!

They appear to have had more than one child die, both John and Peter appear as later names and there was also an Ellen bap. 1855 who is not on the 1861 census

possibly not the one married to Edith Hirst as that marriage was at Salford registry office in 1892

you would need the marriage certificate to find out. There are quite a few Peter Hampsons born in the Wigan are in the right timescale including one born in Salford

You can safely say that Peter 1860 did not marry as he died in 1862

This is the family in the 1871 census . There is a John as son aged 3 - says the same on the original, so has the John mentioned in the OP but not on the 1861 census died? There are several John Hampson deaths in the Wigan area in the right time frame, but of course no ages!
