Thank you all very much for your prompt responses. The John C.layton you have all identified is the correct one and I do already have his and his close family details. However, I am trying to trace his father's details and from the marriage certificate of John Clayton it shows that his father was also called John, a coal miner, who had died previously. It is this John Clayton I am struggling with. Any further info would be much appreciated.

Thinking the same thing as you Reggie. Have tried looking just John born Evenwood but nothing stands out. Either the name was different or he was mistaken about his birthplace.
