I have now solved the mystery thank you to my Grandad' Cousin who i found on here, he sent me a photo of a Mary Sykes who he knew had children Edward (my Grandad) and Kenneth. As soon as I showed my Mum the photo she said said yes that is definitely Grandma Sykes. So she was Mary not Annie. |

I have deleted the other thread as I was 'duplicating' information. |

I have ordered my Grandad's birth certificate so hopefully should have an answer on this. |

Wendy, it's not impossible that two sisters married Sykes but without that certificate (order it from GRO) you'll probably never get to the bottom of it. |

Will do as I'm at a loss now as she has always been known as Annie in the family. |

Get you grandfather's birth certificate to see if his mother was Annie or Mary |
MarieCeleste | Report | 18 Feb 2013 19:33 |
.. so she could have been Mary? |
Wendy | Report | 18 Feb 2013 19:32 |
As Annie is my Grandad's (Edward) Mother, I've asked my Mum what she called her and it was always Grandma Sykes. |
MarieCeleste | Report | 18 Feb 2013 19:30 |
So it was the older sister Mary who married the Sykes, not Annie? |
GlitterBaby | Report | 18 Feb 2013 19:29 |
Why do you think it was Annie that married a Sykes ? |

Three of her siblings were living with a Sykes family in 1911: |

That seems about right, going by the names, especially Thomas, Ann, Mary, Annie and Edward |

I'm not too sure about the birthplace on that 1911, there was more than one Annie Dockerty born around that time. |
