That is clearer now............The 'Mclaren' on Davina's birth record was the mother's second FORENAME

Jayne, I don't think you have got wrong the wrong maiden surname for your Nana. Looks like on her marriage her name was Catherine McLaren SIMPSON.

If you give us the details of the marriage certificate (which you can view online) when you get it then we may be able to help with census records if you require it. The 1911 Scottish census is only available to view on the pay to view Scotlandspeople website but transcripts of other Scottish census are available on other subscription sites.

For £7 you can buy 30 credits for Scotlandspeople. You will only need 6 of those credits to search for and view the marriage. You can use the remaining credits to find their births.

Scottish marriage certificates give the names of both parents including the mother's maiden surname.

Scottish birth certificates give the date and place of the parents marriage which makes finding you great grandparents easier.

Looks like McLaren was Catherine's middle name.
