Hi Im looking for the mother and father of George E Miles born 1914 died 1951 aged 37. He married Vera Bishop and they had three daughters Geraldine, another daughter in between who died and Diane who later became a Hazell.

I have very little to go on . Vera and George E Miles were my grandparents. My grandfather died in 1951 aged 37. They had 3 children (Geraldine, Dianne and another daughter who died may have been still born). The only remaining daugther is my aunty Dian(n)e Hazell who was a baby when he died so I am trying to search her father's side.

Did George Have any brothers and Sisters,if so were they older or younger.

Do you know if he was drafted during the war, as there is a gap between Geraldine 1939 and the child who died (Susan A) her birth & death were registered in the June quarter of 1945.

I think this has been marked as answered by mistake Reggie, Rikki is a new member so probably doesn't know it marks the whole thread as answered on the board.

As Shirley mentioned above, his marriage cert will give you his father's name and you will need that to be sure.


There are probate records for Henry Charles Miles in 1947 and Edith Shutt Miles in 1948. Will someone please have a look to see if either mentions George E Miles?

So a dead end I'm afraid.

Just in case it is the family - they were living 45 Albany Road from the 1911 census to their deaths, and Herbert was a master bread baker. They had another child apart from Lily, Stanley who was 9.

Possible sibings. Although there is a large gap between Lily May & George Edward.

1911 census stated 1 child had died. 2 living, so I assume the death Rosina.

However, without Georges marriage certificate we have no way of knowing if this is the correct family.

It does look promising though, the birth was registered in Q4/1913, so would be 37 in 1951.
