Reggie
I just saw your latest post. That looks really good.
That would tie in with the death year I had been given.
Maybe it was m-i-l's funny accent!
Just looked, the DOB also ties in with Mary Alex Luscombe's birth registration.!
I think it is the same lady
Thank you very much

Kath
Thank you.I think the one Reggie posted it the right one for my May/Mary as the birth year matches up.(1902)
I think I will get the birth cert for Mary Luscombe as it seems she is the one who was the 'sister' and it would be ggod to know who her parents were. Might explain why she was with the Johns family

I would be inclined to purchase that birth cert too Jany.

I get the feeling she is somehow connected to George Johns and Mary Jane Luscombe.

Yes, I think it might give me more info about the whole family!

Do you know Annie's maiden name?

I see Father Charles appears as William on the 1891 census.

What were both their father's occupations on that marriage? And who were the witnesses?

Flip

Flip Report 2 Jun 2013 15:35

That's unusual for no occupation to be quoted for their fathers - even if deceased the marriage records usually state a father's occupation.

I know you are doubtful about William/Charles ancestry, but just trying to find Annie Maria Rogers with fathers name William is hopeless without more info. There are just too many Annie's with father William.

How much store do you place in family gossip about William being form "up north"? It's just earlier I found a possible (born Devon) living in Liverpool with his widowed mother, although I discounted him at the time.

Thank you.. I know very little about this family and no one seems to have much information to share with me.None of them are interested.,apart from my husband.
To be honest,if you live in Devon 'up north' could be London!
There is only one 'old' member of the family left and she doesn't know much. She seems to think Annie was from London as she didn't have a Devon accent but isn't certain.
I would like to find out more, but not sure if I ever will.

There is a member on Ancestry that has this family in his tree.

According to information........Annie Marie Roger's parent's were William Rogers born 1794 New York USA and Catherine Walker born 1824 USA.

If you would like me to contact the tree owner on your behalf to ask if he would be willing to share information with you then let me know.

If he is willing, i can then forward on your email address.

That is great...As I said,I don't have anyone in the family who can help with info..
It would be nice to find out who this person is and if they would help.
I am just totally stuck until I can find births etc for Annie and Chas/Wm.
I will pm you with email address.

May was often used as an abbreviation of Mary.
Perhaps that was how she was known to her family.

Thank you..I think that might have been the case.My husband still refers to her as May
