Thank you so much for all your work, don`t know how you do it, my brain feels quite scrambled at the moment! Will send for birth certificate as suggested. Now can see why others gave up in researching Lucy Gardner. Once again many thanks, will post when I get certificate Jo

Now have birth certificate for Lucy Ann Elizabeth Pittway, born 9th May1848 Shipston, birth registered 16th June 1848. No father is named, mother as Esther Pittway who signed with a cross. Confirms that Esther Pittway was her mother. Looking back at previous research it looked like parents of Esther were Richard Pittway/Pittaway and Hannah. Any help please as to how I can confirm this and also surname of Hannah. Thanks for any help

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly, from your information it looks like this was the second marriage of Richard. Have seen a tree on Ancestry that has Hannah Pardington linked to Richard so will look at this
Once again many thanks Jo

Hi again, stillsearching for Hannah Pardington(Pittaway)
Have looked at 1841 census and there are two Hannah Pittaways
1. born 1791 Kings Norton living with children William Pittaway age 25 and Charlotte age 13
2. born 1796 Shipston on Stour living with Richard Pittaway age 55 and children Mary, John, Elizabeth, Sarah, Richard and Harriet
On 1851 census
1. born 1791 Hannah age 60 living with William Pittaway age 36 and Richard Pittaway age 26, I assume again are her children
2. born 1796 Hannah age 55, head of family living with Elizabeth age 19, Sarah age 17, Richard age 14 and Lucy Pitaway age 2 who is actually Hannahs grand daughter

Both Hannahs appear to have married a Richard Pittaway, date 25.1.1813 at Shipston. I believe Hannah number 2 is the one I am looking for because of the names of children but how do I discount Hannah 1?
