I, like Cynthia, can get on OK, have had an AVG update and am using Google chrome.

Had not actually used this website (as most of my research is in Yorkshire to date) but had a go - found my sister and my cousin etc but not myself - I don't exist!!

(I know - not all records are on yet)

I can, however, get on the site OK

I uninstalled my avg and then re installed it again,i can now get lancsbmd,
so the problem was with the update from avg,not sure about your's but mine kept coming up saying you need to re start to complete updates but no matter how many time's I did this it would reappear again with the same message.

I have pm'd you a screenshot eRRol if that is of any help?

errol is there any way we can sort this out.

In all likelihood it is because there is something on the site that is being picked up which could be totally innocent. The latest virus definitions from AVG may be giving false positives.
Also, if there are "streamed" advertisements then that can cause the problem too

have we found the cause?

I don't know how to sort it but at least I have some idea what may be the cause.

I had a update from avg on the 8th aug wonder if that is the problem,
did you have a update or is it picking on random people.

It does seem very strange that some people with avg can get access when others can't ??

I think the only thing to do is to contact avg and ask for assistance.

I will contact them on Monday if I still have the problem.

hi dea,
I still cannot get on this site however hard I try.
the link that detective gave put's me through for about 5 second's then the avg kick's in and block's it .
very annoying as my rellies come from Oldham.

Strange - I tried all the sites and no problem - bit concerned as I use them regularly as well. I also have AVG with IE.

That's strange Dea. I can get on without any problem at all AND I have AVG!! I'm using Google Chrome.


Why not put a message on General Chat - eRRol will probably pick up on it ?

Nothing 'specific' needed just now but I do use that site such a lot as all my family are from around the Salford area.
