No, or I wouldn't be here now! I am sure John now didn't marry a Mary Ann, but seemed to have married a Mary, but I haven't a clue when. It must have been after 1866 as that is when Susan Wright (Sandford) died, and Alfred was born in 1869.

I think the only way you are going to find Mary's name is by buying Alfred's birth cert.

There are 2 possibles on freebmd but both have middle names:

I think we can eliminate Alfred George as there is this burial:

safc, I think that the Sep 1869 birth would be too late as Alfred is shown as 2 in 1871 which indicates a birth late 1867 or early 1868.

There is this marriage for an Alfred James, father John, deceased, bootmaker:

I have traced a Mary ATHOW marrying a John Wright in 1867 in Hackney, but haven't found any other details yet, but do you think this could be my Mary marring John, and being the parents of Alfred? :-\
