Looking for any information on Audrey Lawrence who was my great aunt. She was born in France in 1926 but returned to Brampton Cumbria three years later. After this can find nothing think she married someone called Irvine and had a son Barry around 1944, any info would be great.

Look for a possible marriage for her on freebmd

http://www.freebmd.org.uk/

Use the same site to look for birth(s) of child(ren)

Hi Carol

Do you have her full date of birth?

Edit: I don't see an immigration record for her 1929c?

There is a birth for a Barry T Ingram around the date you give. Just a guess for the parents of that birth.......

Marriages Mar 1940
--------------------------------------------
Ingram Walter T Lawrence Lambeth 1d 721
Lawrence Mary A Ingram Lambeth 1d 721

Wondered if she was a Mary Audrey?

Carol, if she was your great aunt can you give us the names of her parents or siblings - that may give us some clues?

(I don't think there were any incoming passenger lists from Europe to the UK, except if the voyage originated outside of Europe and picked up passengers along the way).

Could Irvine have been his first name?

patchem

patchem Report 22 Aug 2013 20:57

Michael Lawrence has a Barry Irvine, 1944, Cumberland, in his tree on here.

ErikaH

ErikaH Report 22 Aug 2013 22:22

There is no birth registered for Barry Irvine in Cumberland in any year

patchem

patchem Report 23 Aug 2013 06:55

Reggie,
I know there is not.
But a member of the Lawrence family believes that the name is Barry Irvine (spelling as shown) and the year is 1944 in Cumberland. Interpret that as you will.

She would have been only 18 at time of birth if the information is correct, and in wartime. And only 14 at the time of that proposed 1940 marriage (which is nowhere near Cumberland, but it was wartime).

We need Carol back.

PM received from Carol. I'll ask her to put further replies on the board and not in PMs:

Thanks for your reply, I am not aware of any other name she had. Her parents were Louisa Lattimar and William Lawrence both from Brampton Cumbria.

Carol Report 24 Aug 2013 16:37

Audrey had siblings Frederick, Andrew, John and Jessie who died as a baby. There parents were William Lawrence who died in 1932 and Louisa Lattimar who died in 1972. There were half siblings from a previous marriage

Unfortunately, Carol has marked the thread as answered, thinking she was saying she had answered a question I asked.

Judging by the thread below, there now seems to be no way to undo that:

Jessie's is the only Lawrence/Latimer birth anywhere in England/Wales

Where - and when - were the other children born?

Whose children were the half-siblings?

From pm received:
The other children were born in France. (Father looking after war graves)
Carol has been in contact with the other member, who was the source of her information about Barry.
She now believes this to be wrong as Audrey was at a family wedding around this time (photo, 1947) and she does not think she was married then.

Added:
Lawrences born in France from Carol's tree:

Audrey 1926
Frederick 1924
Andrew 1922
John 1921 (Annequen)

Added:
I think the War grave would be Annequin, but that is a very small cemetery, so looking after others also?

The two children from the previous marriage would appear to be
William 1910 Brampton
Winifred 1912 Brampton
