I have just received the info below about a possible ancestor who went to Canada in 1908.

Can anyone find any further information on his whereabouts after his arrival in Canada.

Thank You

Batmans D........... did that 1911 census indicate what Chas Purnell's occupation was?

BatMansDaughter

BatMansDaughter Report 26 Oct 2013 09:03

Hi Peter,

The 1911 census stated he was a labourer.

I've had a good look about and he either changed his name to avoid detection after abandoning his family or was abducted. Thinking the first theory maybe the one.

I'll look for a bit more and see if anything else comes up.

Peter

Peter Report 26 Oct 2013 09:27

Hi Batmans D

Was there a lot of Abduction in Canada ??

He may have died or even returned to England or elsewhere.

BatMansDaughter

BatMansDaughter Report 26 Oct 2013 09:42

Sorry Peter,

Was being facetious about "abduction".

My own G G Grandfather was missing for 20 years in the census.

I can't see anything after the baptism records for the 2 boys. Did you find Charles and Lucy in 1901?

Yes BatmansD. Isaac Jarman is their grandmother's brother.

I did find them in 1901 at 43 Rotherhithe New Road. They also had 2 sons, another Charles Joseph 1902 and Thomas 1904.

Thank you Flip

Looks like this Joseph matches my original passenger list

Flip

Flip Report 26 Oct 2013 10:15

I'm going to send you the image by PM, because if you look closely at the name, Charles has been added in front of Joseph - I think.

However, if this is right, then he must have also married - m-i-l is his contact in Canada.

Peter

Peter Report 26 Oct 2013 10:35

Not only BatmansD bur Sherlock Holmes as well.

I certainly think this is the CJ Purnell that came to Canada in 1908 but not sure whether this is my CJ Purnell. If it is then it looks as though he has been very naughty !!

Flip
