It's the first time I've seen a record like the top one that Chris posted - it appears to be the results of a search for the birth of Alice Catherine Noad. It seems to have been requested by the relieving officer for Fulham Union.

Alice was aged 22 and pregnant - the cause of chargeability is given as "dest. and pregnant". An order for the workhouse was given 11 June 1898. It looks as though she'd been living for a short time at 58 Shorrolds Road.

Not seeing 1867 Adam Noad Marriage on Ancestry, for details...

(pm from Katherine to say it is right family)

Chris :)

My gran Alice went to live with them in 1884 and formed a strong bond with his daughter Harriett.

am sure this is right because I have a birthday book written by my gran, Adam's daughter Alice Noad,

(I'm a bit confused by statements posted, as to who is Gran Alice, the one on Census above, or somebody that went to live with the family)

That one is described as 'agent' safc. Angus was married in 1839 and was a boot maker.

I suppose it is possible that it's him.

Katherine Report 13 Mar 2007 17:57
I am trying to find a connection between Joseph Noad born approx 1851 and Frederick Noad sometimes Adam Noad, sometimes Frederick Adam Noad born in London around 1847. My gran Alice went to live with them in 1884 and formed a strong bond with his daughter Harriett. Fred or Adams wife was Elizabeth Jane Jones. They lived in the Fulham area. For some reason can't get anything from the 1901 census. Would be very grateful for any info and help.

(although no replies to above, is this same family?)

This is the only Allan Macleod I can find that fits his father but this one also has a son Angus. Your Angus is married by now at the other end of the country.

Thank you Katherine.

So it seems that the Willoughby above is the correct person marrying Angus Macleod, boot maker. She says her father is John Fuller, gardener though. Samuel Bilmead/ Bitmead and Sarah Hall are witnesses and both parties lived in Harper's Court, Knightsbridge.

Very strange.

EDIT This seems to be one of the witnesses in 1841.

I have Adam's Birth Cert. Reg District Saint James Westminster. Date of birth is 4th Jan 1846, I am sure this is right because I have a birthday book written by my gran, Adam's daughter Alice Noad, with an entry 4th Jan, Father's birthday. Name Adam Noad, Father Angus McLoad, mother Willouby McLoad formerly Noad. Occupation of Father Boot Maker informant Willouby McLoad mother address No 26 St Jame's Market. Thank you all for your help.

I would say It said 'Grand C'. Possibly Grand child?

Still don't understand where Noad comes into this though. If Willoughby was a Fuller, then a Pinnock, then a MacLeod and then a Martin when she died, when was she ever a Noad?

Maybe he wasn't Angus MacLeod's son but the son of ? Noad? You really must order the birth certificate for this.

By the way, how do you know his mother was Willoughby Noad please? And can anybody find any of them on census records?
