Hi.I am trying to find information on 4 of my grandfathers sisters all of whom emigrated to New York at various stages in the 1920's. They were all born in Co Tyrone and are all on the 1911 Irish Census, and the 1901 Irish Census (the ones that were born by then).I already have the details for these censuses. I also have the details of the emigrations ie dates and boat names that they sailed on, but am unable to find anything after they emigrated. Any info I can get re possible marriages, death details, family etc would be appreciated.

Names are -

1) Anna Maria McMackin. Born 3 May 1897.Emigrated on vessel Columbia leaving Londonderry 28 Aug 1920. Arrived New York 6 Sept 1920.

2) Catherine Bridget McMackin. Born 20 Feb 1901. Emigrated on vessel Algeria from Londonderry, arriving in New York on 12 Apr 1922.

3) Margaret McMackin. Born 26 Feb 1905. Emigrated on vessel Columbia leaving Londonderry 2 May 1925. Arrived New York 11 May 1925.

4) Hannah Maud McMackin. Born 7 Aug 1909. Emigrated on vessel Caledonia leaving Londonderry 30 Nov 1929. Arrived New York 10 Dec 1929.

Thanks
James Brown

James, can I suggest you edit the title of this thread to include New York, that way one of the NY "experts" will be more likely to spot it.

The Westchester County Archives has the following two marriages:

On a posting earlier , Marie Celeste mentions marriages for Anna (Annie) Maria and Catherine Bridget, and later postings give the marriage details and family of Catherine & Hugh Mathers. I previously saw a possible marriage for Anna to a Martin Shea in May 1935. Looked then for anything on a Anna Shea and there is one who died 5 July 1936 so was wondering if this was the same one.

Was then trying to find some info on Hannah, the younger sister. Came across the US Social Security Death Index and saw there was a death for a Hannah Shea which gave same date of birth as Hannah Maud McMackin (7 Aug 1909). I just put in Hannah with no surname and her date of birth Was therefore wondering if Hannah married Martin Shea after Anna died. Maybe it is just co-incidental or maybe I am totally wrong.

James Report 22 Feb 2014 12:10

Just saw Anna marriage was in 1922 in the earlier post...not 1935 so please disregard the last post....unless she remarried in 1935

Have found Annie Maria's other half now (no special trick, just dogged determination)

O'Shea Daniel 37062 1922

Wonder if this is where the Shea connection might have come from?
