Hi

Just received new details from a member of the family saying that she believes John Dennis Wallace was born in Saskatchewan on 8th feb 1924.

This puts a big question mark on all of the data found today
can anyone check for this birth for me

Dea

Dea Report 5 Mar 2014 17:05

I think that the Privacy Laws in Canada prevent any details on a birth from being made available to the Public unless they are more than 100 years ago.

You could take a chance on ordering that 1989 death cert - the birth date at least is the same and it may mention where he was born?

Also the name of the informant could be useful if it was a family member.

Hi Dea
Thanks for your note I will have to try that.
I was hoping that there would be just a note record of birth like we have over here Jan - Mar BDM

Dea

Dea Report 5 Mar 2014 17:51

Unfortunately Canada is very strict on these things.

This is the site you would use for births etc. in Saskatchewan but it tells you quite clearly what you can and can't access.

Each state/Province has it's own rules but they are pretty much all the same.

Potty Report 6 Mar 2014 11:17

Ian, have you deleted one of your posts? I thought there was reference to a David, JD's son?

Due to the confusion over his POB, I think you need to start at the "end" and work backwards.

How have you got back to John D? What actual facts do you know about him? If he married and had children, when and where? If he had children in Scotland, their birth certs will give the place and date of the parents' marriage and if he married in Scotland, both his parents will be named on his marriage cert.

Potty

Potty Report 6 Mar 2014 11:22

Looking at the CWGC record for the memorial record Maureen posted, he was in the Royal Canadian Airforce, and his parents, Robert and Anne, were living in Port Arthur, Ontario.

Just seen this above- must have been blind earlier:

"Married ? Barbara Agnes Sophia Forsyth one son David born in Glasgow 1947"

Does the ? mean you are not sure about marriage or about the son? If you are sure, then get the birth and marriage cert from scotlandspeople.
