Hi guys.. I am looking for Hugh Kerr who has married Nellie (known as Ellen) Green in 1932 at Auchinleck Ayr. They have 3 known children Jean born 1933 Harry 1946 and James (birth unknown) but they migrated to Australia in 1951. I am trying to find out if this is the same Hugh Kerr who's parents are John Kerr and Annie Gibson (Annie is my link) can anyone help?

Have you bought their marriage certificate for parents names?

Whereabouts in Australia did the family go to? His death record might name parents, depending on which state.

When the family departed for Australia their address had been 54 Mauchline Road, Auchinleck. James was aged 14, the other ages match what you stated.

The marriage cert will name both parents.................invest in a copy

Ye!! that was their last known address... I am tempted to purchase the marriage certificate but I wanted to make sure that it was the same Hugh Kerr. :-S

Not sure how you could achieve that without getting the cert

His birth was definitely 14/05/1904 is there anyway of getting parents from this? I think the births on sp only go up to 1902 ??

Births on SP go up to 2013.
If you buy credits on SP you can view the image of the birth cert (and save or print it if you wish) - except for recent births, where you'd have to buy the cert. 1904's long enough ago to allow viewing the image, though. . That will give you his parents' names.

These are all the Hugh Kerrs (at least with that spelling) born in Scotland 1904 - although you haven't said where he was born, I'm assuming the Fenwick birth is the most likely:

Ok guys!! I took the bull by the horn and purchased the certificate and the parents of Hugh who was aged 28 at the time were James Kissock Kirk Kerr "ploughman" and Mary Kerr M. S Rodgers.(dec) Nellie Green was aged 17 and her parents were Henry Green "coal miner" and Jane Green M.S Devlin. witnesses were Robert Kerr and Mary Green. Any help to trace this family will be brilliant..

Credits, again, will let you view the image, which will tell you who their parents were, and when the parents married. Then you can take the search back from there to the next generation.

I don't know if you're interested in Nellie's tree, or only Hugh's. but this could be her mother. Sorn is very near Auchinleck, and the age would be OK for a 1907 marriage. You can check her YOB from her marriage cert.
