and could I add that I, and all the others who help out on the boards, are well aware that we should be sensitive to the struggles newcomers may have, but Vera is not a newcomer and I sent her many messages urging her to return to this thread and she never has - so I strongly object to the accusation that "we never gave her a chance"

I'm glad this has been sorted. I can bear witness to the fact that many people struggle not only with using these boards, but what is expected of them in the way of information etc, from the messages of thanks which I receive.

Good luck with your research Vera. :-)

Nottsgirl Report 1 Jul 2014 07:23

Hi,

Well I know I didn't do any research for Vera just pointing out I wasn't able to help so maybe I over reacted. Don't like being reported for stating a fact. Anyway time to put this to bed.

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jun 2014 22:47

Well all's well that ends well, but always worth bearing in mind that these boards and how GR works can be very confusing to relative newcomers to them.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Jun 2014 22:32

just had a message from Vera and all is fine now :-D

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Jun 2014 22:29

I think we gave her every chance - kept sending her messages telling her what to do - she ignored them all

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jun 2014 22:23

Don't think you gave Vera much of a chance to be honest.

Nottsgirl

Nottsgirl Report 30 Jun 2014 21:02

Well looks like GR didn't seem a problem with our posts. Like you Ann I don't wont to fall out with anyone but would like to know why we was reported.

Wendy

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Jun 2014 20:54

I see our innocuous postings have been restored

I sent this message to Vera

From: AnnCardiff

10:21 AM

why on earth did you not return to your posting and give some feedback - to just mark it as "answered" is not too polite is it? We are all just fellow members of this site who enjoy helping others - to add to this three of us have had our postings reported to GR - for what reason we are not sure - do you know why, did you report them?

if you don't return to the posting with some explanation you can be sure that it is unlikely fellow members will help you in the future

I don't want to appear "nasty" as we're not like that, particularly on the research boards

This is her response

From: Vera Riley

2:16 PM

Sorry if I upset you but as I said I am new to this game so maybe I got it wrong. Surely we are all here to help each other and we all need to start to learn somewhere, but if you feel like you don't want to contact me again just let me know
Vera

and my response

no problem at all Vera - do not wish to fall out with anyone, but I did ask you repeatedly to return with some feedback

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 30 Jun 2014 09:58

so one to avoid in the future

Nottsgirl

Nottsgirl Report 30 Jun 2014 09:42

Yes I Agree Ricochet all we did was try to help and I just pointed out as it Ilkeston I couldn't help in Nottingham.

I've made a note of Vera's name and wont be helping her again.

Wendy

P.S she can report this too if she like's

Ricochet

Ricochet Report 30 Jun 2014 08:09

Who in his or her right mind would have reported those posts?

And it's a good idea to thank people, Vera.

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 29 Jun 2014 21:43

why on earth has my posting been reported :-and Wendy's and Ricochet's? What's going on?

and why has Vera just marked this as answered without returning to even say thanks

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 29 Jun 2014 19:59

Vera has already been advised there are replies Cynthia :-)

Vera - it is pointless sharing your tree with me - as I have told you, we have no connection whatsoever, so can you return with some feedback on what has been found - you can also post any further queries - use the reply box as I have done
