Thanks everyone but I am coming to the conclusion that it isn't the right Mary Patrick. I was adopted as a baby and my mother's name was Mary Patrick so I have researched so many Mary Patrick's over the years without anything positive.
|
Where and when were you born?
Was she perhaps Irish?
What was her occupation recorded as on your birth cert?
|
To Ricochet. I was born in 1938 in Aylesbury, Bucks and my mother was working on an estate as a farm worker. Over the years I have searched in Bucks but also in Scotland as workers on that estate did come down from Scotland. I don't think I am ever going to find conclusive info.
|
Jean,
Have you tried contacting the owners or manager of the estate as some of these places have been known to keep records of their employees and servants etc. for many years ?

Hi Dea, Yes I have and they tell me they destroy their records every 7 years. In Scotland there are so many records of Mary Patrick's, I have paperwork galore!! The name seems to crop up in England as well. I have pretty well exhausted those in the Bucks area I think. Thanks, Jean.
|
Have you not considered that she was Irish .
the name leads one to think she could have been, and unmarried Irish girls often came to England to give birth, then went home to start again
|
Hi Ricochet,
I have tried Irish records, although some are a bit sparse and because this doesn't come into a census period it is very difficult. Also the Scottish connection with the estate she was working on was I thought a very strong one I have concentrated on that. The trouble is when I find a possible there is no way of proving it!! Jean.
