I still think you need Evelyn's marriage certificate to be certain you are following the correct branch of Lavericks. That way you can build a tree based on fact rather than guesswork.

evelyn/eveline married silas s j in 1933
the same year they was expecting jean e hatton born 1933

my husband use to travel down with his mother patricia g hatton to see them by bus as he was doing his driving lessons, how ever his grandmother passed away and then his grandfather in 1993 and my husband passed his driving test later in the year, witch i know is something that hurts my husband because he did pass sooner, to go down and see them a lot more

Polly is often a pet name for Mary. This is the only Mary mmn Thompson I can see in the right area and timescale.

Name: Mary J Laverick
Mother's Maiden Surname: Thompson
Date of Registration: Apr-May-Jun 1920
Registration district: Houghton
Inferred County: Durham
Volume Number: 10a
Page Number: 1335

I still think you need Evelyn's marriage certificate to get the name of her father.

There is no obvious Lavericks / Thompson marriage showing. Then again, if her mother had been previously married then she would not have married Mr. Lavericks using the surname Thompson!

You could certainly do with Eveline's birth certificate but if you have to buy it, how will you know if it is the correct one if you don't have her father's name from her marriage certificate?

That's good Lisa. I just wanted to be sure we got the right family for Evelyn /Eveline.

If it's not too cheeky can you come back and let us know who her parents were please? I for one am just curious as I can't see an obvious marriage for her parents. :-)

Pleasure to help Lisa.

So good that Patricia has kept all the paperwork together. Such a good start when you are building a family tree and so much better than hearsay.

Not impossible but unlikely that a couple who married in 1881 would be Evelin's parents.

I wouldn't give up on it Lisa.

Does Patricia have Evelyn / Eveline's birth or marriage certificate please?

I am wondering if we have skipped a generation. A child of Robert Laverick and Elizabeth Jane Thompson would be old enough to have a child born in 1913. Thompson is a common surname so quite possible that one of their sons married a Thompson.

I am not finding Robert and Elizabeth Jane together on any census records yet. Perhaps someone else can spot them.

I think Rootgatherer is right about it skipping a generation, i am wondering though if the Evelyn born 1891 is the mother , she was single in 1911 and I can't see a likely marriage until some years later at least?

If Evelyn born 1913 was illegitimate it could be that she was reg in grandparents or family names?

I think the details on the marriage cert for Evelyn might be useful, perhaps a family member was a witness and you can search for them?
