Hi everyone: I can't believe all the information I've received. thanks to everyone who responded. Yes this is William and he married Helen Murphy. in the US. I have noticed in several Catholic Baptisms that when the person marries and contacts the original church for a baptismal certificate (needed to prove religion) often the priest will note where and when the person is married, This is especially common in rural Irish churches where the person married in North America. I have discovered a death record in Liverpool in 1893, two years after the marriage for a Thomas born in 1865 age 28. Just have to find what happened to Julia in 1901 census. cheers Rona |

The name Helen E Murphy was on that baptism Gins so good confirmation from that census. |

Tks Jacqueline : this sounds like the right family. It really helps to have her age. Now I just have to trace what happened after 1891. and if Beverley has found the right Thomas emigrating in 1895- I need to discover why he is not with Julia and why he went to Philadelphia when all his family are settled in New Jersey.- everyone has been a great help in this search- thankyou all Rona |

In case you don't know, for some reason of which I am not aware, Bernard and Brian are interchangeable in the Irish community. |

Thank you to everyone who responded. Unfortunately I made a mistake with the name it was Julia not Catherine and the marriage took place in Holy Cross Liverpool.. It is after that that the couple appear to vanish. Unless she died and he travelled alone to join his family. I was confused because this Thomas sailed for Philadelphia not New York. Did Julia appear in any of the subsequent census in Liverpool. |
