thank you so much for the information. Could well be his family.
I have searched for the 1906 marriage in Singapore to no avail.
I am wondering how he got to Singapore as his service record has him at home 31/07/1902 - 31/10/1902 and then transferring to the reserve on 1st November.

The tree on ancestry has his wife dying 1948 in Ealing. She is in the electorial role with Elizabeth C Tredgold. She is with Edward in 1939 but not in 1946, so he must have died in this period.

My thinking is the Edward on the electoral roll is the son and not the husband.
As he is there before marriage and not after.

Maybe Edward Snr died overseas.

Being placed on the Reserve meant that he returned to civilian live but would have been one of the first to be called up in the event of war. Joining a colonial police force seems a good choice for an ex-soldier.

The address on his sons journey from Japan i.e 58,Holly Street was where his Uncle Charles Frederick Harland Tredgold lived in 1911.
Charles married the daughter of the owner in 1911 she was Ada Emma Helena Clewlow born 1885-1970.

Just to finish off you could try this site:-

As far as I can see you can apply for birth and death records but doesn't look as though you can apply for marriage records. May help you find a death for Edward. Worth a look a think.
Good luck.
