Is it possible to search an address in 1911 census? It's 97 Leicester road, Bedworth... I can't seem to do it on Ancestry :-|

Gee Report 23 Feb 2015 19:04

Hi

Yes you can, add the address in the box KEYWORD

I can see numbers 96 & 98 but no 97. There are some houses on the same road with no house number listed

Are you looking for someone in particular?

Andrew

Andrew Report 23 Feb 2015 19:09

The even numbers seem to be there, but only a few odd. Lots of houses without numbers.

Are you expecting to find anyone in particular?

Gee Report 23 Feb 2015 19:15

Cant see him with the address details that you give.

Was he married/children, when/where was he born please?

Zoe

Zoe Report 23 Feb 2015 19:18

That I don't have.. Just having a look for a friend.. I have his daughter's marriage certificate in 1939 so just his name and occupation.. Daughter born in 1912 so missed the census.. Looked at her home address hoping it might have been in the family in 1911.. Knew it was going to be a long shot :-)

Zoe

What is his daughter name please?

Zoe

Zoe Report 23 Feb 2015 20:07

Edith Monica or Monica Edith.. Edith Monica on marriage certificate (she signed as Edith Monica) but Monica Edith on probate records

I do know that Edith was Roman Catholic so I wonder if I could contact the church she was married in to see if she was also christened there.

If she was born in 1912, you should know what her mother's maiden name was from her birth certificate and then look for the parents' marriage.

Is this her death?

Name: Monica E Richards
Birth Date: abt 1913
Date of Registration: Mar 1960
Age at Death: 47
Registration district: Birmingham
Inferred County: Warwickshire

You'll probably need to wait for 1921 census to find info about her

You can't be sure that she was born where she married

Zoe

Zoe Report 23 Feb 2015 23:36

Thank you for looking.. I knew it was a long shot but hoped I'd find something! :-)

Have you thought that she may have been born illegitimate and just made up a father's name for her marriage (to save face with the in-laws?

Was her father still alive when she married or was he described as "deceased".?

Zoe Report 24 Feb 2015 06:50

Not described as deceased... I've been told he existed by the family.. They just don't know anything more about them.. Thank you for the suggestion though :-)
