This is really reaching a bit.

According to census 1851, Amy Bennett was born c1815 Mappleton, Oxfordshire, England, and her and Henry's eldest child in the census was Emily, born c1840 Henley.

I can't find a marriage for Henry to an Amy, but there is this one for a Henry in Henley in 1839:

ARRGH!!!!!!!!

Have just realised that Charles Edward's father on his marriage was George HENRY Bennett, not George Edward, as on the baptism I found for Charles Edward.

Everything seemed to tie in, like George's occupation of miller etc, and Charles Edward's of domesic groom in the 1891 census with father George E, tied in with occupation on the Ilkley marriage and Eleanor's baptism.

Also in the 1891 census, George E has a son called George H, I'm just wondering if Charles Edward might have mixed up his brother's second name with his father's?

Thanks for the effort. I guess I need Eleanor's birth cert to confirm mother is Emma Scutt which would confirm Ilkley marriage. No idea how to reconcile differences in father's name between marriage record and baptism record plus baptism record showing baby died.

The documents show him to be the son of George Bennett of Bull Lane (see the 1891 census I posted previously)

he was a groom who enlisted in January 1891, at the age of 19 yrs 11 months but bought himself out, or was bought out, for the sum of £10 , on 2ist March 1891, having served 78 days. Note the baptism of the 'died' child to George E and Ann was March 26th 1871, which would tally with a february birth quite nicely.

There is a physical description of him etc.

I would be happy to send images if you decide at any point he is Eleanor's father.

Birth cert confirms that the parents of Eleanor Emma were Charles Edward Bennett and Emma Bennett formerly Scutt. Place of birth was 4 Ceylon Road,Hammersmith. Now to find the deaths of Samuel Edward Percy and Eleanor Emma. A quick look did not show anything obvious.

If she was born in the third quarter of 1894, then she would be 56 going on 57 if she died in the second qtr of 1951 (if I've done my sums right!)

Did Samuel outlive her? I don't think you ever gave us Samuel's age, so don't know if this death fits.

Samuel Edward was born 8 Sep 1890 so the 1979 Lewisham death looks good.
Eleanor was born 15 Jul 1894 which makes the 1951 death also a good possibility.

Oh good, I'd just gone back and edited with Samuel's 1890 birth in the Farnborough area, so glad it all tied up.
