Is there any chance please that someone could have a look and see if he was in the army during world war one.

I think I found a record for him but as I don't have access to ancestry I can' confirm it is him.

I found a possible match in the Royal Field Artillery on the medal card index, but I do not know if he is my George Herbert Grey/Gray

Thank you for helping me

What problem is it that you want to solve?

Jane Report 28 Apr 2015 14:11

I am trying to do his life story for my 52 week challenge and I have lost him between the years of 1911 and 1924 when he got married. ( I am just about to send for his marriage cert to find out where he was living and to confirm Helens dads name etc).

As his brother Charles Henry Grey was in the Army and also his brother Frank Barron Grey, I thought that there was a good chance he was as well. But uptil today I couldn't find anything on him.

I was hoping to send for his service record once I had confirmed he was in the Army to see what info that would give me.

Thank you for helping me

Even if did serve, the chances of his record surviving are small.

Only 30% of WW1 records remain.

What was his civilian occupation?

Sorry Jacqueline for taking so long to reply. George had various jobs. He started out as a farm labourer, then went on to be a saddler. He also worked as a fitters labourer for a few years and he then went on to work in the Steel works.

Its just between the years of 1911 and 1924 that I have no idea what he got up to.

Thanks a lot

Jane
