Hi Susan, are you still looking for her family.

Lorna's father Robert Maitland is my great great uncle, he died in Egypt in 1922. Neither Lorna or her sister had any children and the third sister was only a baby when she died. Neither did her uncle Fred Orbell Maitland who died in Busselton in the 1950's.

I've found her school exam results and checked out her teaching records in the state library but i don't really know much. I'd llove to know anything about her that you can share.

I'm in Perth by the way.

Hi Rebecca

Thankyou for your reply,I am really trying to find this family to hand them their photos of past rellies ,I have a couple of
albums all together all full of photos.

A friend of mine's parents looked after George Armstrong for a few years after his wife Enid died but when he died all of his photos along with a bible and some little books was left with them .

How are you related,I live in Busselton .

brigid Report 29 Feb 2016 08:55

can you go one generation back then trace their living descendents

my ggfather had no legal children but some of his 11 siblings did

+ we have traced them to their deaths + childrens names

tho not yet had contact with any livings. relatives

..we'd like to see photos + compare family images

the effort you are making is incredibly generous + I hope it will be appreciated ..

if you give up ..donate to a local library or family history group .

Thank you Bridget

I have tried several avenues to find living rellies for this family so far Rebecca is the only one to come forward.

Hi Susan.

Lorna's Father Robert Maitland is my great great uncle. He was an engineer and working on the construction of sewage works in Egypt when he died. I think he came to WA to join his brother who married one of the Layman girls at Wonnerup House. So I'm not sure exactly what that makes Lorna in relation to me......she would be my grandfather's cousin! I can send you a family tree to help it make sense.

I've never seen any photos of her, her sister or her parents. I did visit her baby sister's grave in the East Perth Pioneer Cemetery which is quite lonely and sad. I was excited to see your post and impressed with your searching. It would be great to see pictures but I don't expect you to give me any of their things.
Best wishes
Rebecca

Hi Rebecca

I would be very happy to hand these photos over to you as you are the only relative to come forward.

I know Wonnerup House very well I also live in Busselton so the next time you are down this way I would love to meet you at my house and we can go over a few things. Sue
