Hi Rebecca

I would be very happy to hand these photos over to you as you are the only relative to come forward.

I know Wonnerup House very well I also live in Busselton so the next time you are down this way I would love to meet you at my house and we can go over a few things. Sue

Hi Susan.

Lorna's Father Robert Maitland is my great great uncle. He was an engineer and working on the construction of sewage works in Egypt when he died. I think he came to WA to join his brother who married one of the Layman girls at Wonnerup House. So I'm not sure exactly what that makes Lorna in relation to me......she would be my grandfather's cousin! I can send you a family tree to help it make sense.

I've never seen any photos of her, her sister or her parents. I did visit her baby sister's grave in the East Perth Pioneer Cemetery which is quite lonely and sad. I was excited to see your post and impressed with your searching. It would be great to see pictures but I don't expect you to give me any of their things.
Best wishes
Rebecca

A friend of mine's parents looked after George Armstrong for a few years after his wife Enid died but when he died all of his photos along with a bible and some little books was left with them .

How are you related,I live in Busselton .

Hi Susan, are you still looking for her family.

Lorna's father Robert Maitland is my great great uncle, he died in Egypt in 1922. Neither Lorna or her sister had any children and the third sister was only a baby when she died. Neither did her uncle Fred Orbell Maitland who died in Busselton in the 1950's.

I've found her school exam results and checked out her teaching records in the state library but i don't really know much. I'd llove to know anything about her that you can share.

I'm in Perth by the way.

Roberta Joy, the youngest child of Edward Bertram O'DEA, is mentioned here:
http://www.writerspen.com.au/pete/BARRON/i0001394.htm
Roberta married Colin Draper TAYLOR in 1958. It appears they had a son (still living) and an adopted daughter.

The son of Edward Bertram, 'Cliff', is this fellow:

Her married in 1955 but not sure if his wife is stil alive.

Daughter 'Gwen' was Gwendolene, married in 1950. See Reverse Marriage link above to find out more.

Hopefully the Taylor link will prove helpful!

Given that Lorna was already 44 when they married it seems unlikely they had any children. Here is John's birth in WA:

ODEA JOHN RICHARD
Father: JOHN
Mother: PRITCHARD ELIZA
District (WA): NEWCASTLE
Reg: 3648
Year: 1897

Eliza O'DEA died in 1957 in York district, aged 84, daughter of Richard & Joanna (reg 27) - buried at Toodyay (where she was born!)

John Richard's siblings were all born in Newcastle except Stan' (Toodyay):
Edward Bertram b. 1898 (reg 4616), 1948 Katanning district aged 50 (reg 64)
Vernon Patrick b. 1900 (reg 5041), d. 1968 Perth aged 68 (reg 4115)

Hi Susan

Here is an article about their mother's birthday. No grandchildren mentioned :-(

http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-article149804608

Ira may have been known as Jenny, as there are letters signed J. Maitland, Kelmscott.

Her death shows parents names:
MAITLAND IRA JENNY
Female [aged] 86
Father: IGNATIUS
Mother: HENRIETTA
District: CANNING
Reg: 59
Year: 1956

Not sure what the Mrs T. G. relates to in the O'Dea marriage notice? Also shows John was known as Jack.
