Thank you Maddie, this could well be John Frederick Bates. I can find no record of a death for Alice Bates prior to 1911 though. So this gives me another conundrum! |

Yes it was found on Ancestry but it is an incoming list. He came from Cape Town to Southampton in 1925. |

I know for sure that William John Drew Bates married in Cape Town SA and died there as I have been told by relatives in SA. However, they do not know what happened to his parents either. I do not have the marriage cert but I do know that he married Francina Johanna Hendrina-Josephine Johanna Kruger in Johannesburg Transvaal. This is what I do know: There was an application for a special marriage licence as Josephine was a Minor. She was assisted by her Father in the anti-nuptial agreement and they were married out of Community Of Property, Whatever that means! |
