Find Ancestors

Hi, anyone who helped with this earlier in the year. I now have David Ashton's birth certificate and his Dad is mentioned as Ernest Edward Victor Ashton and his mother as Alexandra Idina so mystery solved. It seems as if Ernest was Aishton on a survey and his first son Ernest was registered as Aishton but they became Ashton after that. Thanks again everyone

I've not been doing anymore research on this for a while and I have just been supplied with some more names of Alexandra's children from a relative. I was told that Ernest was the oldest child of Alexandra but I can't find him anywhere so I went back over this thread and Andrew mentioned about the Aishton/Feeney birth in 1922 as does GLB above. This was the Ernest I was missing so I'm sure that you are all right and the man I'm looking for is Ernest Aishton. I've just ordered David's birth certificate, finally, so I'll let you all know, if anyone's still interested.Thanks everyone. :-)

Ernest Aishton looks like he could be more likely the right guy but I'm concerned that his name is Aishton and not Ashton. When you look at it on the census it's not a mistake, it's quite obviously Aishton and yet David Ashton, Alexandra Feeney's son is Ashton, not Aishton

Come back and let us know what the cert says when it arrives.

Ernest does seem likely as he lived near Alexandra but on the census all his family are listed as Aishton, I thought it was a spelling error before, but the family I'm looking for is Ashton. Getting David's birth certificate would be a good idea, as suggested

Her name is Alexandra I Feeney. The J must have been a mistake as she was apparently know as Idina. I don't have any certificates at this point. I also found Ernest but from what I've been told we feel that the William is the correct husband. So we are looking for William E. That Baptism transcript is great as that fits in with some other information I've found about Alexandra. I'm still new at finding information so thanks to everyone for all of your help.

There is a 1922 birth to Aishton/Feeney Devonport

There are 5 births Ashton/Feeney Devonport - 1925, 1927, 1929, 1935,1937

EDIT - and a further 2 in 1941 and 1944 Plymouth (Devonport lost as an RD and Plymouth the RD from 1938)

There is a Aishton/Feeney birth in 1922 and Ashton/Feeney births from 1925, all in same area.

Looks like the same couple to me.

The Aishton/Feeney marriage is a typed entry 5b 835 Devonport which is the likely area for marriage as this is where they were both living in 1911

The Ashton William E to Alexandra J is a handwritten entry and the "J" could well be an "I". Plymouth 5B 834a (the expected page range for Plymouth is 535 to 728).
?? Has a mistake been made when the handwritten entry was made for " William E Ashton"
