YEP. Sent you one mail earlier. I only started researching my tree after a chance letter in the M.E.N. re John McKenna and Martha Cnockaert .... oh my days! And so the floodgates opened!!! My mum who had never talked a lot about her growing up, I suddenly discovered to be a living history book! I have lots of anecdote to share - I jst need to delve back in my box of papers , will happily share. But oh how I wish they didn't 'recycle' names!!!!!! bUT maybe it was in honour of ....so you have Alice your half sister, Alice her G'mother, Ed Mckenna jnr married an Alice ....she died in childbirth, and of her 6 children the 3 girls were raised by MY g'ma .....and one of the girls is Alice, now Longstaff!!! I will try and sort everything out for you in the next couple of days and will email you copies of all certs and photos I have.
E,

Glad you picked up the report. Trying to work out relationships in the family and decided that Alice, my half-sister, and your mother would have been cousins. There are grandchildren from the marriage of JJ and Margaret and if you want details of these I am sure that these could be provided.
I have passed your wishes for today to Jack and as you say he is astonished that all these facts should come out now.
Hope you got my last me message with my e-mail address and I am sure we will be in touch in the future.

Hi John - Nyx is correct, your other enquiry has come to my email address! That is really interesting stuff you have there, I did not know about any children JJ had with Margaret, so again, thank you for sharing. I will update my tree which is mainly on ancestry now as I did my first DNA test with them. How poignant you should find these posts at such a time ...... please pass on my condolences to Jack, and to all of you, and I hope all goes well for you tomorrow. Speak again soon I hope.

John as it's three years since Eunice posted she's unlikely to be looking for replies here, if you click on her name you can send a message with the info you have, she will receive notification of the message if she has the same email address, and be able to reply even if she is not still a paying member :-)

Forgot to add that my father died on 20th November 1973 in Stockport. Sorry!

Eunice
My first report appears to have gone astray so will try agian.
My name is John Curran and John Joseph was my father. My mother was his second wife who he married in November 1943 after the death of his first wife, Margaret McKenna, died on 27th October 1937. You obviously have a copy of their marriage certificate, as do I, as all the details are so accurate. It is strange that I should find this now as tomorrow we shall be scattering the ashes of their youngest daughter, Alice, over Margaret's grave ar Southern Cemetery. Alice lived in Australia and died last November. She expressed a wish to be united with her mother who died when she was three years old. Her husband, Jack, who is currently staying with me, has brought her ashes over to carry out her wishes. John Joseph and Margaret had three other children, Margaret, Anne and Gordon, all of whom have died. I have two brothers, Peter and Arthur and a sister Dorothy, who are all children of his second marriage.
Hope this helps but if you need any more information you can contact me.

Further information.
The burial information for Margaret Curran at Southern cemetery are correct as I have the original grave deed. There is also a grave for a John Curran next to her grave but I do not know if they are related as I have no information on my father's family. Certainly, I have not heard of any Uncles on his side. Any other details on any other John Josephs detailed are not correct as he was cremated at Stockport Crematorium following his death. Hope this helps if you are still looking.

Jude

that's why I said 'should', rather than 'will'

As for senior moments...........one person's senior moment is another's carelessness. It depends on whether one listened to Wogan in the mornings ;-)

Jacqueline..."The 1973 death cert should include info about the person's birthplace" - of course it is only as good as the informant!

Jacqueline/Rootie - lol - senior moments.... :-) question - when does one officially qualify? :-S

I reckon this guy has that effect on people

I did something similar yesterday, and had to delete a load of nonsense I'd posted

rootgatherer Report 7 Jun 2015 15:42

Sorry, I had put the wrong year of birth in when searching Jacqueline. Senior moment :-)

I'll delete that posting, although it's so much rubbish I don't think it will confuse anyone

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 7 Jun 2015 15:38

Not sure how that relates to a man born in Scotland c1876, and married in 1902 to a woman named Elizabeth

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 7 Jun 2015 12:26

The 1973 death cert should include info about the person's birthplace

Dea

Dea Report 7 Jun 2015 11:59

The Stockport death in 1973 which Jude suggested above is certainly a possibility as some of the deaths in Southern Cemetery were registered in Stockport.

Certainly around 1980 Stockport came under 'Greater Manchester'

ps - I will copy that link Dea as well, it could be useful for more of them!!xx :-D ;-)

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 7 Jun 2015 09:40

Based on Dea's excellent info..........the death fits the age as per census

Deaths Sep 1950 (>99%)
McKenna Alice 81 Manchester 10e 300

AND....................

As the 1937 death certainly seems very likely to be Margaret, there are these to consider

Oh my goodness you have all been busy! Thank you all so much, I shall have to investigate some of these! Kucinta, that seems very likely so I will follow that, as does all the burial things in Manchester's Southern cemetery - yes Dea, that Alice Mckenna, wife of Edward, died at home in Dale Street December 1950 so it looks like you have found a link there too. I have Alice's death cert, so will get Margarets first and then see where that leads me. Thank you all so very much xxxx
