Find Ancestors

Totally unrelated to this family but it caught my eye as a chap I've been researching for our WW1 community project was Walter De Frece Robson. Apparently his parents were fans of the music hall artiste/male impersonator Vesta Tilley (real name Matilda Alice Powles) - she married a Walter De Frece so they gave their lad that as his forenames.

Well looking at the houses on the Grassington Rd.they appear to be Council Masonettes so it does make you wonder.....

It's so frustrating and it's not my family!

I'm thinking, Rene separated from Faust and either had a child registered under her new lovers name or, was a step mom to her new bow

I wonder if at some stage she was related to the De Frece Theatrical circuit....there is also a De Frece Golf Trophy for the area but I cant find where/when that originated and for who/what for.

You say she was a widow, did it give her late husbands name, I'm guessing not

I just don't know but it looks likely

If your student's grandfather is 80+, then he was born in the 1930's, or between 1827 and 1830. and presumably his surname is Faust.

There's a male Faust born 1932, but mms is Faust.
In 1940 there's a male Faust with mms Cohen - but then he would only be 75 now.

Sorry, no help.
