Possible brother for Catherine?

Name Laurance Mulligan
Gender Male
Birth Date 04 Nov 1863
Birthplace AVONDALE,LANARK,SCOTLAND
Father's Name Patrick Mulligan
Mother's Name Bridget Divine

Edit: Death 1865
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm struggling to find a marriage for Patrick Monahan/ Monaghan & Ann Galligan.

They are not listed as deceased on son's (John) marriage in 1902. Patrick is listed as Farmer.

Wondered if this was the family in 1911? (same area as John's baptism):

1911: married 43 years (9 children- all still living)
Residents of a house 1 in Gallon Glebe (Moynehall, Cavan)
Monaghan Patrick 72 Male Head of Family Farmer, Roman Catholic
Monaghan Anne 72 Female Wife Roman Catholic
Monaghan Michael 25 Male Son Roman Catholic
Monaghan Alice 27 Female Daughter Roman Catholic

It looks likely that Patrick Mulligan (your Great grandfather who married Bridget Devine) b, about 1840 died in Scotland. If you don't already have it, get his death registration from Scotlandspeople to check if the informant gave the names of his parents. You say you have a Laurence Mulligan married to Ann McGuire, any idea where you got the information from please?

This is Catherine (known as Katie) with her mother and brother in 1901- the address matches the address on her wedding entry- confirming she was born in Scotland:

Welcome to the boards, Kate.

Can you give us an idea of when your grandfather was born, please?
Was Mulligan your grandmother's maiden name as well as her married name?
(Or, which of them was Mulligan and which Monaghan?)
Did your grandfather die in Scotland, or had he gone to USA with his brothers?

Their marriage cert would give details of their parents' names. Do you have a copy?

I don't see their marriage on ScotlandsPeople, 1895 -1905, having tried various combinations of both surnames..

looking for ancestors of my grand parents, catherine mulligan & john monahan (the letter (G ) got added to our surname of monahan somewhere thru the years... ) i believe my gran came from strathaven & grandfather's family came from county caven in ireland, but they got married in strathaven lanarkshire in 1902, any info would be a great help especially with my grandfather's roots.... i also believe he had 6 brothers which all went to america for work, but my g/father fell from scaffolding & was killed so my gran was left with 2 kids to bring up on her own.... think he died around the 1920's....
