Ok – I need some help finding out anything else about these two:-
Maude E Brammer brn about 1908 and Harry Payne brn about 1906 in Aston, Birmingham.

Maude and Harry married in about Sept 1920 in Aston, Birmingham and had 3 children, Iris, Harry and Ronald.

Maude went on to marry a Clifford Hughes in 1933 and I have traced from this point forwards What I don’t know is anything about Maude and Harry before they were married, including parents, or where they came from?

Any help?

ArgyllGran

ArgyllGran Report 30 Aug 2015 18:10

I don't see their marriage record anywhere, Gaynor.

Do you have their marriage cert, which should give fathers' names?

Is this a possibility for Maude's birth ??? I don't see a Brammer or Barmer birth

Actually, no - she couldn't be born c1908 if married in 1920 - she would only have been 12.

Sorry, yes I misspelt the name -I have found the marriage details for Maud to both Harry Payne and then to Clifford Hughes, I wondered if anyone here with their expert skills and access other sites could find any thing out before I order the marriage cert

So the name is Maude E Barmer ( but as we know things can get mis scribed) .
Thanks

Already discounted, Brummiejan, I think.

Sorry, didn't delete quickly enough!
It looks like the maiden name was def. Barmer, as children's births confirm.
You do need the marriage cert I think.

Just in passing, have found Clifford and Maud on electoral registers, but sadly middle name just recorded as E!

Got her - doesn't help too much as she was Maud Elizabeth

Would someone else like to take a look at this and see if you think that surname is actually Burner and then if you can find her birth or previous census?

Smethwick is historically in Staffs. says Wikipedia

Could it be Barnes gg? Possibly something to do with William in this census.
