Death cf Hannibal Martin Hannibal Martin of North' Wilkes-Barre died on 'Sunday evening after a three years' Illness of paralysis, at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Isaac A. Poad, 17 Maple street aged 67 years. He came to this country from Cornwall, England, twenty-Bve years ago and has been a resident of North Wilkes-Barre ever since. He was a fatthflimiineiF--rfi-CaJvaxjisiehtttchiJ He leavea his wife and two daughters, Mr. Ellen Poad of North Wllkes-Barr and Mr, lames Thomas of Wales1; also two brother, Jame Martin of Paraon and Thomas Martin of England.

ah I see!! nobody found a marriage date did they? just that my auntie has it down that beatrice was born in 1866 and married in 1872 but that can't be right, she would have only been 6

Hannibal is Beatrice's father ..........

You HAVE to buy the marriage certificate for Beatrice and James ...... that will give you Beatrice's age, and the names of their fathers.



Sarah Gribble appears to be a friend from "back home" ................ unless anyone can find a marriage further back that would show her to be an aunt or cousin.

Hannabal Martin 17/1/1841 died Luzerne County Pennsylvania 12/6/1908 he was the son of Thomas Martin and Elizabeth Johns

Daughter Ellen Martin 1869-1945 married Isaac Armstrong Poad born Cornwall 1865.

Immigration year for Ellen was 1883 her mum Mary Jane Martin nee Parsons was with Ellen and family on 1920 census.

Just phone my auntie, apparently Emlyn was born james in 1847 in martyr, beatrice was born in 1866 in forsooth

So who is Hannibal? and Sarah Gribble was she just a friend?

Just having a coffee and reading it all, I'm confused, the story goes that Beatrice was very young when they met and he was told he had to wait until she was 16 before they married, just reading the rest, big thanks for everyones help
