So.....if you have Ernest actual birth certificate, you knew his parents were? You presumably have his second marriage certificate if you know that Kate's father was George?

Census in 1939 says earnest james hayman domestic gardener address 52 pownall crescent colchester wife kate. (Dixie) a widow. they married 1925
Census gives his dob as 28/9/1878
His actual birth cert says 29/8/1878
His death certificate address is 52 pownall crescent Colchester.
First wife Mary died in 1924.
kate dixies dad is george wright.

The parents of Ernest James born 1879 are William and Katherine as shown in the 1881 census above.

Have you bought / got a copy of the marriage certificate of Ernest James and Mary Hayhoe please? That will confirm the fathers' names and occupations.

Looking at the 1939 register it would appear that Ernest James had remarried so he either divorced Mary or more likely she had died.

What info. does it give on that 1911 Marriage Cert...(will help with further research)
