I have details on William married to Hannah Quinnell 1845, however Hannah dies
Abt 1853 and Willaim Hutinson Buchanan is at some time after her death in South Australia and married to a Elizabeth Williams, I would like to find out any shipping details for him also if there are marriage details for his second marriage. Born in Adelaide are his first child to Elizabeth in 1858 sec., child 1860 & third 1863.

Well it looks like this is not my William Hutchinson Buchanan, I know the William Hutchinson Buchanan that is my great great grandparent b. abt. 1822 I have his detail here in Adelaide but how he got here is a mystery like I mentioned his first child was born here in 1858. His wife was a Eliza Williams and I can't find her details either. Thank you for your reply.

yes thank you I have all that info and one on a George Buchanan 1863 and his death same year. I have burial details on both Eliza (Elizabeth) and Williams in West Tce Cemetery Adelaide. Just looking on how they got here. Elizabeth 1860 was my great grandmother. I have details on William H. Buchanan employment as well.

What proof do you have that your William went to Australia from anywhere?
Perhaps he was born there.

As Hutchinson and Buchanan are both Scottish names, I checked Scottish births, but although there are several William Buchanans, there are no William Hutchinson Buchanans, nor William Buchanans with mms Hutchinson born in Scotland 1815-30.


EDIT: But if the only record you have of him is his death record, there's nothing to suggest he had a middle name at all.

Many married convicts didnt return to their homeland and just started a new life in Australlia and went on to remarry and have another family.

How have you got back to him - Hannah clearly didn't die when you thought she did

Yes Gins...just what I was getting at! We need Lorri to clarify things - why she thinks her ancestor was the one with Hannah? And if it was, why she thought Hannah died in 1863.

Most importantly, the Hutchinson middle name....obviously the one married to Hannah does have that middle name...but is that the same man that Lorri followed to Australia?

The William in Oz does not show a middle name on the death reg plus no middle name for any William Buchanan on the Oz ER

Seems to me, they are two different families

There is a death in Guildford for a William age 55, 1868, age is out but hey, we're used to that!

The marriage for William and Hannah is on Ancestry...I agree ...two different families so need Lorri to come back and advise how she gets back to these people.
