THanks Ag yes i did find him on 1871. looking for other children on other census.
Mary Ann Brooksby is Marion's sister. Mary Ann married a James Allen, i have all info on Mary Ann. Marion was the problem but every one has been so helpful i have quite a lot to go on now. Thanks Cheryl

Have you looked at Familysearch?
Andrew Hardie and Marion Brook(sby) appear to be having children right up until 1870.
One of these children was born in Denny in 1866 and named: James Allan Hardie
(Places of birth indicate that Andrew Hardie was following coal mines)

Re 1900 census in Ohio and 12yr old Daral Hardie ( Grandson)

This child was the son of James Allen Hardie and his 1st wife, Emma Dickson
They married in Ohio on 1 Dec 1886 & Daral was born on 16 Aug 1887.

Not sure if Emma died or they were divorced but James remarried in 1895.

Re ArgyllGran's "Viewing the image of the cert would let you see Marion's parents' names, which would assist in finding her in 1841."
She didn't notice the pre-1855 date, so probably parents are not named (although I have seen instances where the fathers were named pre-1855).
