Ok ann bc father Ernest hoyle mother margaret Wadsworth formallly hartley says ernests occupation but I cant read it

Don't know if this is coincidence or not, but searching Ernest Hoyle's address in the newspapers (334 Cog Lane) I also came across an article of an Arthur Alexander Hoyle lodging at the same address in 1946. Arthur was stated to be 22.

I couldn't find a 1924 birth for Arthur Alexander (there is a death confirming a 1924 birth)- but there is an Arthur Hoyle born 1924 Burnley (mm HARTLEY) and an Ernest Hoyle born 1927 (mm HARTLEY).

I don't know if it's connected, but will leave up just in case.

Ernest Hoyle of 334 Cog Lane, Burnley and Richard Wadsworth of 54 Elizabeth Street, Nelson were each fined £3 by Burnley Magistrates on Wednesday and ordered to pay £1 9s 9d costs each for assaulting James Gregson of 30 Springfield Road, Burnley.

For assaulting Mrs Margaret Alice Gregson, Hoyle was fined £5 with £3 3s doctors fee...

Yes i see i have found two possible marriages for a pickles hartley theres only two that fit but its the knowing. I have the birth cert of Ann coming soon so il see if anything mores on there birth address is 10 rook street Nelson thats for Ann

•Parent's surname differs from child's. For example, if a child is raised by the mother without the father being present, he or she may have taken the mother's surname, so when the parent's surname differs on the entry in the register, both surnames may be used in the index.
•Difference between the name as entered by the registrar and the name as signed.
•Alias names (also known as / formerly known as).
•Hyphenated surnames may be listed as both names and/or each name separately

It might be worth getting the 1949 marriage cert and the 1932 birth cert to see what father's names are on them.

Possibly Margaret's parents weren't married and her mother lied on the birth reg.

The death for Margaret HOYLE mmn Hartley could be right though as the ages tie in along with the birth as its stated as feb 1932 could she of changed the name via deedpole or been known as HOYLE there for it was registered as HOYLE i dont know

ahh yes the entry appears twice one next to Hartley one pickles does this mean her parents was unmarried so she appears twice like the wadsworth hoyle children

Hmmm i found that marriage but i didnt see anything about surname pickles im confused now what could this mean?

I wonder if this could be Margaret's birth - would explain the surnames on the 1949 marriage:

Well, there is Wadsworth/Margaret Hartley marriage in Nelson (next door to Burnley), but Margaret is also shown as Pickles:

Well done folks! Finding Ann's BC was a stroke of luck. It does throw Margaret's death reg into doubt now.

Ok as far as im aware only 3 of the children were a Hoyle which means two was the first husbands. But its the death she died when Ann was around 5-7 only death is that fits is a Margaret Hoyle but yet no marriage

It certainly looks as if Margaret & Ernest were not married - that is why the children's registrations appear twice in the index, under Hoyle & Wadsworth.

Now i cant find a wadsworth hoyle marriage but yet the hoyle death ties in unless she changed her name via deedpole cant find a margaret wadsworth death agrhhhhhh :-S

what im confused with is all the children born to Margaret MN Hartley appear with surname Wadsworth and same ref nums as with surname Hoyle is this normal?

Right all had a stoke of luck and found Anns BC..... Mother Margaret Wadsworth formally Hartley father Ernest HOYLE. so looks like Margaret was married before and also wasnt married to Ernest so im thinking maybe she passed a Wadsworth ?

Just looking at the James Hoyle Margaret Hartley marriage- it was in 1959, but Ann's siblings were born before this in 1957 and 1958. So it may not be the correct couple. Ann definitely needs her birth certificate!

Yes those are the correct siblings which is why she said children was called that afterthe parents ernest now deceased Margaret has dementia im intrigued about that article can you send me the link. As she thought her mum passed away due to this when she was young but 1951 was over ten years before she was even born

There are two possible older siblings for Ann, born in Burnley, coincidentally the eldest is ERNEST, also a sister Margaret.

I wonder if this is where Ann got the name Ernest in her head?
