1841 census ... unfortunately to see what it really says you have to pay at scotlandspeople

Name: Hector Menro
Age: 7weeks
Estimated birth year: abt 1841
Gender: Male
Where born: England

Name: Johan Menro
Age: 20
Estimated birth year: abt 1821
Gender: Female
Where born: Ireland

Civil Parish: Dalkeith
County: Midlothian
Address: Wicket

Margt Imart 60
Elisabeth Imart 50
Margaret Reed 10
Hector Menro 61 born Midlothian, Scotland
Hector Menro Mclean 6
> Hector Menro 7weeks
> Johan Menro 20

no husband present for her ... she may have been visiting (what a voyage with an infant) or have left her husband and relocated to Scotland permanently

given that the marriage to Munro was in the Plymouth area the husband was very likely a seaman and that is his family in Scotland

one might imagine that he died and the widowed Joanna then married Walker

so Sylann can you tell us what you actually know about someone, and what you are trying to find out?

do you *know* that Joanna Gilbert or Hector Munro is your ancestor?

these are the two Hector Munro/Monro births registered in England before 1845 ... not all births were registered

Births Sep 1839
Munro Hector William Strand 1 301
Births Mar 1842
Monro Hector Bethnal Gn 2 69

Sylann the marriage to Joanna "Gilbert or Munro" could because be she was born Gilbert and married Munro ... it would seem very likely to be the same person since the coincidence of names would seem rather extreme otherwise ... but not impossible, for that reason (birth and married surnames) or some other

the full 1861 household in Manchester is

Johanna Walker 40
Thomas Walker 20 son born Ireland
Sarah Hill 58 visitor born Ireland

so I'm not sure that is the right Johanna Walker, in fact I would think it isn't since she has a son aged 20 named Walker and born in Ireland

the 1840 marriage and 1845 birth seem to be consistent with your info - ?

is it Hector who is your relation, and if so what else do you know about him - where did he live, marry, die ... ?

Help is needed please

I have a Joanna Gilbert born 1821c in county Cork her father is James Gilbert

I think she married someone called Munro as she had a son in 1840c born England called Hector Munro,

She remarried a Richard Walker in Linlithgow Scotland in 1848 on the marriage certificate scotlandspeople it has her name as Joanna Gilbert or Munro
this with sons name and fathers name is how I've thought she married a Munro in Ireland or England

If some one can through any light on this it would help

Thank you
