Many Apologies. My friend only asked me to help trace family of Edward Child b1855 and wife Mary Child of Staffordshire. I wasnt aware you had access to Canadian archives.
In email to her she revealed the Canadian link, but kept raising a family middle name of Vincent. This was red herring from family chit chat I believe.

All the Canadian information from New Brunswick Archives relates to William Ambrose Child b1883 son of Edward Child b1855 and Mary Wyles (England) ..shown as (Mary Wilds)

Later there is a son to William Alfred Child / Essie Hatt registered as Vincent A Childs ( with an s) also Ambrose has been recorded as "Alfred" local mistakes by registrar I believe.. So this is where the family name "Vincent" seems to have crept in.

Now to look at what happened to English family after William Emigrated to New Brunswick Canada circa 1905 and the resultant family line to present day living ancestors.

Many Thanks to all who have given such valuable information and links to Canadian archives - fascinating.

that info is all in the records I referred you to ;)

right down to occupation baker!

so she has been doing that research, we just didn't know she was related to that William Ambrose Child and that she already knew all that.

so it kind of would have helped if she and then you had provided that info -first- since the living relatives to be traced obviously didn't include the one the research is being done for!

I have been given a further Nugget by the friend I am researching for. She lives in New Brunswick Canada. Her relative is a William A Childe ,Child or Childs born May 1883 in England emigrating to Canada Sept 1905 occupation Baker. His father Edward b1855 also occupation Baker - Wheaton-Ashton - wife Mary - nee Wyles b 1853 Coventry.

William Ambrose Child married Essie Hatt in New Brunswick Canada dying 1951 c

It all seems to fit with Info from you all.

you're welcome RRose!

And Derek, if you are interested in the New Brunswick Canada information, the actual records showing all the info - parents' names, spouses' names, etc - are available free of charge and with a very quick and easy search function at that site (i.e. not just an index but the full records)

Thanks for posting that link Joonie, as well as being useful to the OP, it's useful to me :-)

Thank you all for your time and efforts. As is often the case names are listed in different forms so I will study all the data you have kindly offered and work out a pattern. But it all seems to fit in and will give me a good stepping point to gain more information.

I will decide which certtificates are prudent to purchasre to confirm the data.

just for confirmation since the Ancestry info seems to come from a tree or some such and is not actually accurate in some respects (Edward's year of birth)

William Ambrose's death certificate, visible by searching here

http://archives.gnb.ca/search/VISSE/Default.aspx?culture=en-CA

does show his father as Edward Child and his mother as 'Mary Wilds'

there are also records of his children Edward (died aged 7, as ChildS), Ambrose and Elizabeth

and two marriages of son William, but also as ChildS

and marriages of Ambrose and Elizabeth Celest also as ChildS

On the otherhand there is this on Ancestry for William Ambrose

http://www.ancestry.com/genealogy/records/william-ambrose-child_166419795

This does look likely that William married in Canada, as some of the children are named the same as his sisters ( this may already be known to you?)

Not finding them in 1911 yet??

Derek

Derek Report 8 Nov 2015 20:45

1881 census shows her as one year younger than edward when they are in digs together and may be wrong, so 1891 census entry for her birth date.( b 1853) 1901 shows her as a year older ( b 1853 ) if the same person. ?

Born 1853 seems OK.
